Willow Smith, the daughter of film star Will Smith, has signed to JAY-Z'S record label just days after her debut single leaked online, reports MTV News. Both Smith and the 'Roc Nation' boss and renowned rapper appeared on Ryan Seacrest'S radio show to confirm that the 9-year-old had signed on the dotted line.
JAY-Z described Smith's new song 'Whip My Hair' as a hit, before adding "I was like, Man, that record's a smash. And then Jay Brown (Roc Nation partner) said she's 9 and I was like, 'Whoa!' And [then] he was like, 'She's Will and Jada's daughter' and I was like 'Whoa!' and it just went from there." The rapper also spoke of the first time he met his new artist when she was travelling with her family in Japan, he said, "She walked in and the first thing she said was, 'I'm really nervous,' and I thought, 'That's maturity to explain exactly how she was feeling when she walked right into the room"
Smith's new track leaked online on Wednesday to a frantic response from bloggers and writers. The song immediately became an Internet hit, and the Los Angeles Times said, "Don't let her age fool you, the song packs serious punch".
