Country legend Willie Nelson has a black belt in martial art tae kwon do.
The grizzled 79-year-old Whiskey River singer tells Men's Journal magazine he hit the mat for lessons in his 20s after piling on the pounds at the beginning of his career - and discovered he was quite good.
He recalls, "I grew up playing football, baseball and basketball, and running track, but I fell off for a few years - gained weight, started smoking and drinking too much.
"To get back in shape, I started taking martial arts. Every day I try to do something different."
