Country legend Willie Nelson is being honoured in Texas with a new medical professorship.

The singer and his wife Annie have raised over $250,000 (GBP131,600) for a stem cell research program at the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and are being rewarded for their charity efforts.

The first Annie + Willie Nelson Professorship will be presented to DR ERIC OLSON, who heads up the university's molecular biology department.
