There was a treat this week for fans of 90's show The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, when actor Will Smith posted a picture on Facebook of members of the original cast back together over 15 years on from the show's finish.
The Men In Black star, who has become one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, posted the picture with the caption "Got the holiday season started right with a Fresh Prince of Bel Air reunion. There's nothin' like spending holidays with fam!" And, true enough, among the faces in the picture were Tatyana Ali (who played Ashley,) Karyn Parsons (Hilary,) Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton,) the larger than life James Avery (Phil,) and of course Smith himself in a most heart warming of shots. Unfortunately there were some key characters missing from the fictional Banks family, including Daphne Reid and Janet Hubert - who both played Vivian - and the butler Geoffrey, played by Joseph Marcell.
If Smith has gone to become a hugely famous movie star since the show - which ran from 1990 until 1996 - then the others have had more varied careers. Ali embarked on a brief singing career in the late 90s and currently stars on TV One show 'Love That Girl!', Parsons set up the African American history awareness company 'Sweet Blackberry' in 2005 after a disappointing run of roles post 'Fresh Prince.' Ribeiro's career has come on in fits and starts, his last notable role being a host of 'Gsn Live' between 2008 and 2009. Avery however, who already had a long string of credits behind him dating back to the early 1980s, has continued to be as prolific as ever and appears in the short film 'Valediction' next year.
