Common will star in 'Suicide Squad'.

The rapper turned actor - who picked up the Oscar for Best Song with John Legend after they penned the soundtrack 'Glory' to the hit film 'Selma', in which he also starred - has joined the A-list line up of the upcoming action picture, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He will appear in a currently unspecified role alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and model Cara Delevingne, who's been cast in the part of Enchantress.

Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara and Scott Eastwood will also star with a rumoured cameo from Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor also tipped.

David Ayer is directing the movie which is expected to be released on August 5 next year.

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck's Batman is also rumoured to appear in the movie

The Latino Review blog has claimed Batman will feature as ''some sort of big boogeyman'' in the Warner Bros film.

Meanwhile, further details of the film are being kept under wraps and star Will Smith has suggested he'd be forced to ''kill'' anyone who learnt of its plot.

Asked whether he could speak about 'Suicide Squad', Will said: ''No sir, I'd have to kill you. It's top secret but it's really good, though. It's great stuff, fantastic. I'm already in shape for it, I'm already training.''
