Whoopi Goldberg has landed a role in ABC's supernatural drama '666 Park Avenue' as a ''mysterious resident'' who helps fight evil spirits.
Whoopi Goldberg is making a guest appearance on '666 Park Avenue'.
The 'Sister Act' actress will play the role of Maris Elder in an upcoming episode of ABC's supernatural drama, which will see her hypnotise main character Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and take her back to 1927 to discover where she disappeared to down the spiral staircase.
The show's executive producer David Wilcox describes Maris as a ''mysterious resident of the building'' and the part was written especially for Whoopi after they learnt of her love for horror.
Dan told TVGuide.com: ''Whoopi's an incredible actor, so when we heard that she was a horror fan, we wrote the role for her.''
ABC also revealed Maris will help Jane
- who unleashed a dark spirit when she bought a Manhattan building with her husband Henry Martin - discover where the evil originates from and unravel her family history.
It is believed Whoopi's role will be similar to her Oscar-winning performance as psychic Oda Mae Brown in the 1990 hit 'Ghost', since both characters guide people in the supernatural realm.
The episode will air on December 2 on ABC.
The star, who turned 57 on Tuesday (13.11.12), has already appeared in 'The Middle', 'Suburgatory' and 'Glee'.
