White Stripes frontman Jack White and his wife Karen Elson have announced the birth of their new baby boy named Henry Lee.

The baby is the couple's second child since getting married in the Amazon rainforest in 2005.

A statement from White's publicist Chloe Walsh said: "The new child and his mother are both feeling very healthy and happy."

White, 32, is the lead singer and guitarist in the Detroit band the White Stripes along with drummer and backing vocalist Meg White.

Their sixth studio album, Icky Thump, was released this year to yet more critical acclaim and topped the UK album charts.

White met Elson while working on the artwork for the band's fifth LP, Get Behind Me Satan.

The musician is also in another successful band, the Raconteurs, with his close friend Brendan Benson.

He and Meg are set to embark on a US tour later this year and will play at the O2 Arena in London on November 2nd.

The White Stripes' hits include Seven Nation Army, Hotel Yorba, The Hardest Button to Button and Blue Orchid.
