Westlife hunk Kian Egan has slammed pop stars who say they have stalkers - branding them liars seeking publicity.

But the MANDY singer is quick to insist he isn't referring to mentor friend Ronan Keating, who called in cops after his family received threats from a stalker.

Kian says, "I know Ronan isn't the type of person to take advantage of something like that. In his case it can't be true.

"I'm sure it's just hype in most cases and people are only saying they have a stalker so they can get as much publicity as they can.

"It always seems to happen when someone has a single out."
