Paul Gascoigne become a national legend for his skills on the football pitch, predominantly playing for Newcastle United, and reached a pinnacle of success when he brought England to fourth place in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Well known for his emotionally-charged playing and passionate dedication, he was loved by all aspiring football players and deeply respected by his superiors. At the time he was probably the most talented midfielder in England, but away from the stadium he was also the most troubled. As his popularity grew, his life spiralled out of control. Revelling in nights of binge drinking and substance abuse brought him media attention for the wrong reasons, and the more he was exposed, the more he was driven to drink. 25 years on, his sobriety and mental health are continually tested, though for many his sporting legacy will never be overshadowed by the scandals.

It turns out, naming your children with matching first letters is 'in'
Klay, it’s a weird name isn’t it? It’s not so weird when you consider the parents football Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen, and celebrities never give their kids normal names.
Klay Anthony Rooney's birth at 02:11 BST was announced by his mother on her Twitter feed. She wrote that he weighed 7lb 11.5oz (3.5kg) and "we're all so happy and doing well". Pamela Satran, who has written numerous books on baby names and runs the site nameberry.com, reckons she knows what’s behind the name. "I think 'tradition' is too grand a term for it," she says, talking about the tendency of celebs to name their kids with the same first letter. "It's a practice that started in the US, at least, in the 1950s when people moved away from being very tradition-bound – with family, religious or cultural names – and started picking names they liked. So that left a lot of room to make up their own, much sillier traditions. One thing people did, just like dressing their children the same, was give them matching names. We certainly love it over here [in the US]."

Numerous stars from the football and entertainment world contributed towards Paul Gascogine's rehabilitation costs.
Paul Gascoigne has revealed that Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard paid for his recent spell in rehabilitation. The football legend makes a tearful appearance on Alan Carr's Chatty Man tonight (April 12, 2013), in which he reveals the extent of his drinking binges. "It's been three months since I had a drink. I do miss a pint...I'll never say never. I might drink again in the future," he told Alan.
Gascoigne revealed that Manchester United striker Rooney, 27, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, 32, Arsenal star Jack Wilshire, 21, Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, 52, DJ Chris Evans, 47, and Alan Sugar all helped him with the cost of rehab - a £7,500 a week facility in Arizona.
Following his last drinking binge, Gascoigne said he "woke up with two empty litres of gin, six bottles of wine and about eight cans," explaining, "I don't plan to, I've got to keep my eye on the ball and do the right things. But I've got an addictive personality. For me it's just that I fancy a pint. I think I'll be alright for one and I get too excited. It's all right getting there but once I'm drunk I'm a nightmare."

That's right, Coleen Rooney and her footballer husband Wayne Rooney are having another boy. The couple revealed that Coleen was pregnant in October, and she broke the news via Twitter in a tweet directed to her hubby saying " Absolutely loved seeing our baby on the scan yesterday!!! We decided to find out the sex...... It's a ..... BOY!! So exciting @WayneRooney". Fans from all over the country have been congratulating the couple for their wonderful news.
As the Mirror reports however, this means that 26 year old Coleen will be the only girl in a house full of boys. Once this was mentioned to her she responded: "I know god help me ha." She and Wayne already have one son named Kai who has just turned 3. "He wanted a boy!!" she said, and apparently wanted to name his new little brother 'Hatter', after the Madhatter, from Alice in Wonderland.
Although he didn't respond directly to his wife, Rooney opted for a different family activity by revealing a video, wittily named 'Elfyourself' of himself, son and wife dressed as elves, dancing, on Facebook. The baby boy is due in May and probably not looking forward to appearing in any more Rooney Christmas traditions such as this:

Wayne Rooney has swapped his Man United kit for an elf costume in a Christmas video he has doctored for his fans online.
The footie star applied photos of his, his 3-year-old son Kai, and his wife Coleen's faces on the heads of three elves doing a street dance to a hip hop rendition of Tchaikovsky's 'Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy' on the exceedingly popular app Elf Yourself. The 27-year-old striker shared the video on his Facebook page to an appreciative response and 6,000 likes within an hour. It's nice to see the football player in such a good mood, despite being too busy to see much of his family over Christmas what with training for two big matches close to the day taking up all of his free time. Although, he and Coleen have just revealed that they are expecting a baby boy sometime in May 2013 so that's got to be something keeping his spirits up at the moment.
One Rooney fan commented on the joke video saying, 'Wicked, you look awesome as an Elf Wazza!! Happy Xmas to you and your family xx' while another insisted he 'do the same dance for [his] next goal on Sunday.'
Coleen Rooney has announced that she's expecting her second baby boy. She and husband Wayne announced that they were having another child in October, and now it's been revealed that young Kai will soon be joined by a baby brother.
Speaking on Twitter, Coleen wrote, "Absolutely loved seeing our baby on the scan yesterday!!! We decided to find out the sex...... It's a ..... BOY!! So exciting @WayneRooney." The 26 year-old is apparently set on giving birth at the NHS Liverpool Women's Hospital, where she welcomed Kai around three years ago. A source told The Sun newspaper, "Coleen's birthing experience with Kai was plain sailing and she absolutely loved the staff. She is in a fortunate position where she could afford to have five-star treatment in a private hospital. But there was never any question in her mind about where she would return to have a little brother or sister for Kai."
Following the birth of their first child, bookmakers Coral offered 66/1 on Wayne and Coleen's son playing for England, while William Hill quoted 100/1 for him to play Premier League football..

Remember yesterday when we brought you news of Steven Gerrard's possible casting in a new James Bond movie? Well, it looks as though Wayne Rooney is also joining the race to replace Daniel Craig, ahead of tonight's Skyfall premiere in London (October 23, 2012).
A new alternate trailer for Skyfall - commissioned by the Huffington Post - has emerged online, featuring the Manchester United star as Bond himself. In the ridiculously poorly-produced clip, Rooney infiltrates a hair transplant laboratory in an attempt to bring down the villains. After Judi Dench's M demands to know where the hell he has been, Rooney replies, "Spain, Brazil... erm, Italy." His team-mates Ryan Giggs and Patrice Evra also pop up, displaying slightly better acting skills than Wayne himself, though the whole thing is disastrous. Funny, almost, but disastrous. At the end, the England star is heard to say, "They say he is a legend," before a title reads, "Wayne Rooney is Awful," in the recognisable 'Skyfall' typeface.
The video comes just 24 hours after current Bond Daniel Craig tipped his favourite footballer as a possible replacement once he hangs up his tuxedo. Speaking to the official Liverpool FC website, the actor mused, "Who would I rather be, captain of Liverpool or Bond? Well I don't think I could keep up any more so Bond will do but Steven Gerrard would make a good Bond. He is a good leader so you know what, seriously, who knows?"
