Electro-rock duo Unkindness of Ravens have released their debut album 'Virus' on Sonic Fire Records along with a video for one of the tracks 'The Spaces in Between'.
The video contains themes of fetishism; with vocalist Nina Wagner wearing only black bondage tape on her upper half and winding it around her arms and neck in a sensual dance. The effect matches well against the heavy, grungey bass lines courtesy of Ben Raine and the haunting vocal tones of Nina.
According to Ben, the song was about an on/off relationship with an ex-girlfriend which gave him 'a lot of fuel to write about' - the fetish theme was an interest of Nina's who was inspired by Pam Hogg's fetish fashion designs.
Also included on the album are 'Viper' and 'Virus' that were released previously as a double-A side single. The beats behind them are just as heavy as 'The Spaces in Between' and present a very primal sound to the genre. On the other hand, there are songs such as 'Das Gift' and 'White Road' which are much softer and more melodic than the opening tracks.
Unkindness of Ravens have received good reviews for their previously released singles. There is little doubt that their debut album will receive just as much, if not more, support this year.
