Patrick Wolf's new single, Together, is the lead track from his new EP, Brumalia, which was released on November 28th, 2011. It follows on from the release of his fifth studio album, Lupercalia, which was released to critical acclaim in June 2011. The track was produced by Atari Teenage Riot's Alec Empire.
Speaking about Together, Patrick said: "'Together' has been the highlight of the live shows over the last year, the audience reaction to this song has been totally inspiring, I always saw it as a song about two lovers reuniting in the dark rainy days around December. For the last few years I've been writing a song around Christmas time, creating this winter EP.'Brumalia' (which translates as 'festival of the shortest day'), in a way is like a little brother or sister record to 'Lupercalia'".
Born in South London into a talented family, Patrick started his musical training by singing in church choirs and taking up school violin lessons. By age twelve he was already recording songs in his garage, using only his voice, violin and second hand organs. He performed with Minty from fourteen and had left home at the age of sixteen to busk on the busy London streets. Patrick soon formed his own band, Maison Crimineaux.
Patrick's debut album, Lycanthropy, was released in 2003, followed soon afterwards by his second album, Wind In The Wires, released in 2005. His third album, The Magic Position, was released in 2007; his fourth album, The Bachelor, was released in June 2009. To date, all of Patrick's studio albums have received critical acclaim.
Brumalia was written and produced by Patrick himself, with the songs having been written over the course of 2011.
