The haunting vocals of Karima Francis, Blackpool-born singer songwriter, are back with her new single 'Wherever I Go' out June 4th followed by her second album 'The Remedy' out August 6th 2012.
More personal and narrative than her debut album 'The Author', 'The Remedy' has been signed with a new record label - Mercury (Chase & Status, Taylor Swift, U2 & Pixie Lott) - and produced by Flood whom she met in 2010 at a Water Rats show (PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave).
Flood was a key player in bringing the album to life. "I went into my bedroom," she says, "and demo'd the whole record there. And I gave those demos to Flood and he was like, 'Right, let's make that - just bigger and better.'"
After suffering from an eating disorder which pulled her away from her musical passion, Karima stresses that the album represents not just recovery, but renewal. She says she feels much more confident and determined this time around, "And because of that, I have a real sense of achievement this time. This record feels like my masterpiece." Her experiences and hardship is conveyed strongly through her heartfelt performances which engage and touch her audiences; it is difficult not to feel moved by the evocative tone of her voice!
