Warrant lead singer Jani Lane was found dead in a Woodland Hills hotel on Thursday (11th August 2011). The cause of death is not yet known, but Lane had been arrested for a series of alcohol-related crimes in recent years, reports CBS News.
Famed for his long blond hair and leather outfits, Lane and Warrant topped the charts with glam rock hits such as 'Heaven' and 'Cherry Pie'. The singer had an on-off relationship with the band and left in 1992, before returning intermittently for several years. He recently appeared in the reality television show 'Celebrity Fit Club' and was jailed for 120 days in 2010 for a drunk-driving incident. Tributes for the late star have already begun flooding in, with former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash tweeting, "Just heard about Jani Lane. What a shame. Rip man". Motley Crue rocker Nikko Sixx echoed the comments, saying, "I just heard the sad news about Janie Lane. So hard to swallow when people have kids. Rip". Others to pay their respects include American wrestler Chris Jericho and Posion rocker BRET MICHAELS.
Jani Lane, who wrote and sang Warrant's biggest hit 'Heaven' in 1989, is survived by his two daughters from two previous marriages.
