His close family and friends subsequently remembered the late rocker at a private service, and now his musical pals are staging their own memorial in Akron, Ohio on Saturday, according to Cleveland.com.
Billy Morris - who played with Lane in Warrant - will perform at the tribute show with his band Cleveland's Breakfast Club, and he's promised to honour the star's musical legacy.

Court documents filed in connection with the late star's estate have now revealed Lane didn't leave a will and his eldest daughter has filed paperwork asking for the court system to appoint an executor, according to Tmz.com.
Lane's estate is said to be worth around $600,000 (£375,000) and could potentially be shared out between his wife and two daughters.

The free concert will take place at the Key Club in Hollywood on 29 August (11), with fans and friends invited to "come and celebrate the life and times of Jani Lane".

Guitarist Erik Turner tells Tmz.com, "We never thought that when the song Heaven was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani's untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock 'n' roll."
