Walt Disney Co. executives were said to be "furious" that excerpts from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's book and audio recordings about her life with John F. Kennedy were broadcast on NBC Friday night, four days before they were to be published by Hyperion Books, a unit of the Disney Co., the New York Post reported today (Wednesday), citing no sources. NBC thereby scooped ABC, another Disney division, which is scheduled to air a special tonight (Wednesday) based on the book, Jacqueline Kennedy Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy . According to the Post, NBC nabbed the book when a bookstore owner inadvertently put it on on sale early.
