Guitarist ERIC ERLANDSON has teamed up with director Vincent Gallo to form RRIICCEE - a unique band that will perform spontaneously with no prewritten music.
The duo performed at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan in July (07) and are due to make their American debut in New York on 7 December (07).
An insider tells the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "It's supercool and has the potential of being something really special.
"Improvisation is not a good word for what they're doing. It's more a gesture of composing and performing at the same time, always hoping to avoid musical cliché or jamming."
Gallo adds, "We've chosen to remain open, to grow and change more naturally. If we choose to record a performance, the recording itself is the only evidence of that creative moment."
The project is the first for Erlandson, former boyfriend of Drew Barrymore, since his days in Courtney Love's rock band Hole.
