Country star Vince Gill was honoured for his charity work during an event in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday (10Mar13).
The singer was handed the Frances Williams Preston Lifetime Music Industry Award by his wife, Amy Grant, at the fifth annual T.J. Martell Honors Gala.
Gill's daughter Jenny paid tribute to her father by singing his hit Whenever You Come Around, and the star became emotional as he remembered late music mogul Frances Preston, who the accolade is named after.
He explained, "I was crazy about Frances. I graciously accept this award with a tender heart."
T Bone Burnett was also recognised at the ceremony, where stars including Jeff Bridges, John Mellencamp and Elvis Costello gathered to pay tribute to the producer.
The event also included auctions to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation, which pays for research into leukaemia, cancer and Aids.
