The Furious 7 star recently hit headlines after he was snapped by the paparazzi bearing a bulging belly - a sharp contrast to the toned, muscly physique he typically shows off onscreen. The images went viral and turned Vin into a target on social media, with many poking fun at the 48 year old's so-called "dad bod".

He fired back at critics over the weekend (10-11Oct15) by sharing a shirtless shot to prove he is still in shape, while he also urged fans to help put a stop to the bullying trend by declaring, "Body-shaming is always wrong!"

Now Vin has opened up further about the controversy, insisting he is comfortable enough in his own skin not to let the insensitive comments affect him.

"Honestly I would rather it come to me than somebody else," he tells America's ABC News. "I can take it... I don't care really, I'm not trying to be in super shape all the time. I'm trying to master my craft of making films.

"I do think it's wrong to body-shame. There are trolls on the Internet that there are all kinds of atrocities they commit on the Internet (sic)."

The actor is also adamant he will never let himself go completely, because working out has been his way of life since he was a teen.

"I started working out when I was a teenager," he explains. "I was a bouncer in New York City so I started working at New York nightclubs at 17 and because of that, I started training then."
