There may be another three movies in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Paul Walker starred in a number of the Fast & Furious franchise.
There's ever more death-defying stunts to be had with this crack team of vehicular warriors, who reunited after a brief retirement when DSS agent Luke Hobbs enlisted them to help catch former soldier Owen Shaw and stop his rampage of terrorism. After he is spectacularly defeated, the team, led by Dominic Toretto, are faced with another potentially fatal situation as his brother Ian Shaw is dead-set on revenge. Somehow, the team find themselves parachuting from an aeroplane in their respective cars, hanging off the edge of cliffs and various other deadly exploits as Shaw and his men ruthlessly hunt them down. Danger and disaster might be what these guys live their lives by, but have the team finally met their match?

Is this the final Furious? The trailer kinda makes it seem so.
The first trailer for Furious 7 (aka the seventh Fast & Furious) is out and here’s the good news – it’s faster and furious-er than ever. The late Paul Walker takes the honorary spot in a trailer that features him dangling off a cliff and then running up a bus dangling from that same cliff and into a truck... oh, you’ll just have to watch the trailer. Also, camels.
Almost a year after Paul Walker's death, the actor received another tribute at the trailer launch.
No, I’m not even kidding. Featuring the ominous line “One last ride.” And Vin Diesel’s epic “I don’t have friends. I have family,” this one might actually be a tear-jerker. In some of the last material he filmed before his shocking death – in a car crash, of all things – last year, Paul Walker returns as Brian O’Connor, partnering with Vin Diesel’s Dominic “Dom” Torretto for one final heist.

Now it's finally been released - has Guardians of the Galaxy lived up to all the hype?
Guardians of the Galaxy was given a big platform to live up to before its official release with many calling the tenth Marvel instalment the best in the collection yet. First view critics were impressed with the look of the film and its special effects, the acting ensemble and the humour and comic play in it that is not always found in a Marvel superhero film. Even Jim Starlin, the comic book creator of villain Thanos, waded in, calling it Marvel’s best movie so far.
Guardians of the Galaxy has had a lot to live up to
But, upon release, could it really live up those lofty expectations? The answer is yes and for many reasons.

The 47 year-old talked about the effect Walker's tragic death had on him, especially while filming 'Fast & Furious 7.'
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker first co-starred together as Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Connor in 2001's 'The Fast and the Furious.' In these breakout roles, the actor's started one of the most successful film franchises in history.
Diesel talked about the effect of Walker's death last November
Over the past decade the duo have featured in five of the seven movies together, including 'Fast & Furious 7' which is set for release in April of 2015. But half way through filming the latest instalment, tragedy struck as Walker was killed in a car crash last November (2013).
By refusing to follow the usual formula, filmmaker James Gunn has made Marvel's best-yet movie, a summer action-adventure that provides more cinematic fun than the rest of the year's blockbusters rolled into one. It's shamelessly entertaining, keeping the focus on sparky characters even as the action spirals into exhilarating set-pieces around them. And the best thing is that the film isn't actually about the big plot: it's about a group of people who should hate each other but instead come together as a team.
In a pre-logo sequence set in 1988 America, a young boy is kidnapped by aliens. Some 25 years later, Peter (Chris Pratt) has become an ace thief who roams the galaxy in search of cash. Curious and charming, he can get himself out of most scrapes, but when he collects a mysterious orb for a client he ends up as the target of two bounty hunters, the raccoon-like Rocket and tree-like Groot (voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel). And the villainously destructive Ronan (Lee Pace) sends his best fighter Gamora (Zoe Saldana) to get the orb for his own nefarious plan. Rounded up and thrown into prison, Peter, Gamora, Rocket and Groot stage a daring escape with the help of literal-minded muscleman Drax (Dave Bautista), then must work together to deal with this troublesome orb. So they contact Peter's mentor/nemesis Yondu (Michael Rooker) before taking on Ronan and his second-best fighter, Gamora's half-cyborg sister Nebula (Karen Gillan).
Gunn gives the film a look and tone unlike anything in the Marvel universe, with colourful ships, sassy humour and freewheeling action that propels the story and deepens the character at the same time. It also makes the most of the well-worn 1980s mixtape Peter uses as his own personal soundtrack. It's the kind of riotously thrill ride that makes us hold on for dear life, loving every twist and turn. And since it's so tightly focused on the characters, the action plot involving the orb merely adds texture around the edges. As do terrific actors like Glenn Close and John C. Reilly in small but pivotal roles.

London’s Leicester Square played host to the Guardian of The Galaxy premiere last night. The latest Marvel adventure has been attracting strong praise for the critics ahead of what is expected to be a big box office weekend for action-comedy.
“They're the thieves, the bounty hunters and the neglected”, explains Zoe Saldana of their characters in this featurette. “It's not a typical superhero movie.” Chris Pratt – who plays the ‘hero’ role, adds: “Peter Quill is the only human in this crazy world. He doesn't have superhuman strength or the abillity to fly but he uses his cunning and his charm to get himself out of situations.” Finally, Bradley Cooper – who plays a machine gun-wielding Racoon, Rocket - spoke highly of the melding of genres, both action and comedy. “There's a lot of humour in this one and a lot of heart. There's nothing like it, that's for sure.”
The film’s stars, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, John C. Reilly, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Benicio Del Toro, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Dave Bautista, Laura Haddock, Glenn Close, Ophelia Lovibond, Peter Serafinowicz and Melia Kreiling – amongst others – were in attendance at the glitzy London premiere last night. From Fast and Furious to Outer Space, Vin Diesel's latest role sees him as a seven foot tall tree-man who can only say two words.
The unlikely duo were seen wreaking havoc in the film's latest trailer
In what is possibly the most epic bromance of the summer, Vin Diesel plays a humanoid tree named Groot, who is only capable of saying the same phrase over and over: "I'm Groot", whilst Bradley Cooper lends his voice to a trash-talking mercenary raccoon named Rocket. Amazingly, the two actors never worked together in the studio, and Diesel the CGI team and director James Gunn with making sure their on-screen relationship was out of this world.

After having tweaked the movie to allow for Paul Walker's death, Universal have pulled the 'Fast & Furious 7' release date forward by a week.
The release date of the next Fast & Furious movie has been pulled forward by a week from the 10th April to the 3rd April 2015, Universal Pictures has announced. According to THR, the decision was made to allow the action sequel to have "more international playdates."
The movie was originally scheduled for release this summer but actor Paul Walker's tragic death last November meant the filmmakers had to reconfigure some of the scenes he was scheduled to shoot. Walker died in a high speed Californian car crash along with his friend Roger Rodas and was killed instantly on collision with roadside obstacles.
Walker will still be featured in Fast 7 but some of his scenes will have been edited to account for his unfinished filming. He will be seen starring alongside franchise returners Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster.
The brand new, full length international trailer has been released for the upcoming summer blockbuster.
Prepare to check out the new trailer for the upcoming summer blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy, which is due to open from the end of July. James Gunn's visualisation of Marvel's lesser-known comic book series recruits a stellar cast in an outer space setting with jaw-dropping special effects and rib-tickling one-liners.
Chris Pratt takes the lead alongside Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Josh Brolin, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close Benicio Del Toro and Dave Bautista in what looks to be one of the action highlights of summer 2014.
In a nutshell, Pratt's adventurer, Peter Quill, gets stranded in space and unites a team of unlikely ex-con aliens in order to mount a defence against the cosmic threat of Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

Peter Quill runs into some trouble when he discovers an unusual looking orb that happens to be hunted by the merciless admiral Ronan and his army of miscreants. He is an Earthling; an unusual race within his neighbourhood in which he grew up after being removed for his home planet as a child. Naming himself the Star-Lord, he likes to think he's one heck of a superhero - but he's about to meet his match (or should we say 'matches'?). After being arrested by Ronan's people, he is greeted by four other alien outlaws. First there is the enormous Drax the Destroyer who is determined to use his supernatural strength to avenge his murdered family; then there's cyborg Gamora, the daughter of Thanos (an even bigger villain in this story); Rocket, a psychotic gun-toting raccoon; and half-man half-tree Groot. They may be distrustful of each other, but they've got to stick together if they want to save the universe from certain annihilation.
Since when did superhero films have to be serious? Marvel apply comedy to comics with 'Guardians Of The Galaxy', which is based on the original comics by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. The movie has been directed by James Gunn ('Super', 'Slither', 'PG Porn') and co-written by Nicole Perlman and is due for UK release on July 31st 2014.
Peter Quill is a fearless Earthling pilot who rather proudly proclaims himself to be an outlaw, going by the nickname Star-Lord. As a child, he was taken from his home planet and forced to live around various alien races, but even he is in for a surprise when he is captured by merciless hunters led by the evil admiral Ronan after he tries to make off with an extraordinary orb. It is during his imprisonment that he meets four other intrepid outlaws. There’s Drax the Destroyer, a man of muscle hellbent on avenging the tragic murders of his family; Gamora, a green-skinned cyborg who is the rebellious daughter of Ronan’s boss Thanos; Rocket, a genetically modified raccoon with incredible firearm dexterity; and Groot, a half-man half-tree creature who knows little about the technological world. Despite their reluctance, the five must join together to save the universe from Thanos’ dastardly plans.

The 'Ride Along' actor has hit back at claims that he is a sore loser.
Ice Cube has felt compelled to respond publically after finding himself the centre of a heated internet furore over comments he made after Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. The rapper/actor allegedly hightailed it out of the awards when it emerged that he anwwd Ride Along co-star Kevin Hart would not be receiving Best Onscreen Duo for their latest comedy, with the award going instead to Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker for Fast & Furious 6.
Ice Cube [R] Was A Little Miffed That He & Kevin Hart Didn't Win 'Best Onscreen Duo.'
Ice Cube said that his loss was the result of Walker fans' "sympathy" vote. "We was robbed," Ice Cube told USA Today. "Shame on you, MTV. We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated. For us not to win was crazy. We were the best on-screen duo, period. They should have gave it to [Walker] before he passed away."
Co-stars and fans remembered Walker's life and work.
The MTV Movie Awards are usually a time for fun, blockbusters and shirtless Zefron, but last night’s ceremony included a solemn moment, as co-stars and colleagues paid tribute to the late Paul Walker. The actor died in a high speed car accident in Santa Monica on November 30, 2013. Walker’s Fast & Furious co-star Jordana Brewster stepped up first to introduce the tribute video. In her moving speech, she called Walker “humble” and remembered his kindness.
The tear-inducing video paid tribute to Walker's acting work, as well as his numerous charities.
“He thought about others," Brewster said, referencing many of his philanthropic endeavors, including tagging great white sharks for research purposes. Walker's relief work was also mentioned, revealing a side of the actor, rarely glimpsed during his lifetime "He never asked for credit or glory. He was just a really good guy."

Filming is due to resume on Paul Walker's unfinished movie 'Fast & Furious 7', but how will producers tweak the script to finish the movie?
Fast & Furious 7 is due to resume filming, although sadly without veteran cast member, Paul Walker. 40 year old Walker died tragically in a car crash in November 2013, midway through filming the upcoming addition to long running series. Walker had starred in the very first movie in the franchise, The Fast and The Furious, back in 2001 as Brian O’Connor, FBI agent turned criminal spurred on by his involvement with hijacker Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel.

The plot of Fast & Furious 7 will focus on Vin Diesel's character Dominic Toretto and his crew as they attempt to lead normal lives, but Ian Shaw, played by English hardman Jason Statham, is after revenge and once again the whole crew is threatened. They must find the man who killed their own crewmember, Han, before he finds them.

If the trailer for Guardians made no sense, here's the brief on the team.
By now nobody is questioning Disney and Marvel’s decision to invest in the Avengers franchise. It started out a bit rough - 2008’s The Incredible Hulk is still a mostly ignored part of the cinematic universe – but by Iron Man 3, the series was grossing billions. Now that Marvel is on sure footing and the cinematic universe has an established fanbase, the studio is making the next move with Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most aniticpated movies of the year
On Tuesday the studio released a trailer and it looked like a hot mess. Granted, a hot mess featuring Chris Pratt, but there was also a talking raccoon. It had the unmistakable feel of an 80s sci-fi flick. On that note, here’s what you need to know about GotG’s bunch of A-holes for this movie to make any sense.

Universal has finally decided on a course of action, following Paul Walker's death.
Universal and the team behind Fast & Furious 7 have been in a bind since Paul Walker’s death in November. His tragic car crash was followed by a break in production and a speedy brain-storming session to figure out how to tie up any loose ends with Walker’s character.
Walker's character will be retired, not killed off, say producers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walker’s character, Brian O’Connor, will not die in the seventh film, but will instead be “retired” in order to gently ease viewers into the transition. The studio hopes that this decision will not only satisfy fans, but allow the production team to utilise existing footage of Walker, since the 40-year-old actor passed away about halfway through the Fast & Furious 7 shoot.
In light of Fast & Furious' new release dates, we take a look at the box office landscape for 2015.
Yesterday the release date for Fast & Furious 7 was announced for April 2015. As predicted, this allows for some production delays and for the cast and crew to have a mental health break following Paul Walker’s death.
It also means that the film will be pitched against a different set of competitors, which might affect the franchise’s profits. In July 2014, the main competitor to our favorite fast-cars-no-plot franchise would have been Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Vin Diesel broke the news via Facebook yesterday.
The franchise will continue and it will be in cinemas in April, 2015
Fast & Furious 7 is definitely still happening, and if Vin Diesel's Facebook account is to be believed, then it will be here by next spring. The star of the franchise took to his Facebook page late on Sunday, 22 December, night to leave a tribute for deceased star Paul Walker, before eventually revealing the release details for the upcoming film.
Walker and Diesel were set to star together once again
F&F7 will arrive in cinemas on 10, April, 2015, according to the Facebook post, after production was put on hold. Filming for the next instalment of the F&F series had been put on hold indefinitely following the untimely death of star Paul Walker on 30 November, however Universal decided to go ahead with the filming when writer Chris Morgan and director James Wan, apparently, devised a plot eventuality where they can retire Walker's character from the series using scenes already shot. The film was initially due to be released on 11 July, 2014.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Vin Diesel lead the tributes following the star's sudden passing

A number of celebrities have taken to their social media accounts to send their condolences to Walker's family and pay tribute to the fallen star.
Paul's death has shocked Hollywood, and the rest of the world
Walker and his friend, Roger Rodas, both died in the fiery crash on Saturday, 30 November, after Rodas lost control of his Porsche Carrera GT and crashed it into a light post and a tree. The car burst into flames upon impact and both Walker and Rodas were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred as the pair were leaving a fundraising event for Walker's charity Reach Out Worldwide, which was aiming to raise money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan at the time.

Lin will sit behind the camera for the next 'Bourne' film, due in cinemas in summer 2015
Justin Lin has been signed on to direct the next instalment of the Bourne franchise, which will see Jeremy Renner return as the star of the show. Filming for the fifth Bourne film is due to begin next year, with the movie expected to arrive in cinemas in summer 2015.
Lin, who masterminded the Fast and Furious franchise - which has become one of the most successful film series in history - was announced as the director of the next Bourne film via Deadline, who also revealed that Renner will be returning as Aaron Cross. The 2015 release is being written by Invictus and Sherlock Holmes writer, Anthony Peckham.
The fifth Bourne film will be Lin's first project since stepping down as the head of the Fast and Furious franchise - which grossed over $1 billion from the last three films alone - in place of James Wan. Universal have enlisted the help of Lin to hopefully propel the Bourne series to similar heights enjoyed by F&F.
Vin Diesel seems filled with confidence of 'Riddick' release.
Vin Diesel has made a grand appearance on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie 'Riddick' which is finally set to hit theatres everywhere nine years after the previous movie.
The baritone-voiced action hero first appeared as Richard B. Riddick in 2000 with the movie 'Pitch Black' - a commercial success grossing more than $53 million worldwide from a $23 million budget.
However, 'The Chronicles of Riddick' fared significantly worse; with a budget between $105 and $120 million, its $110 million gross and harsh lashing from critics rendered it a royal flop. With 'Riddick''s considerably more modest budget of $38 million, Vin seems convinced that the sparkly-eyed alien badass can still be a hit, dubbing it's upcoming release as a 'victory'.

The gravely voiced actor will probably be playing Groot in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' after all, and he isn't ending his collaboration with Marvel there
For a while now Vin Diesel has been dropping subtle hints that he's working on something that will have all the nerds in the west clipping their heels together in a joyous embrace of his future projects. Whilst promoting his new film, Riddick, the smooth headed star addressed the rumors persisting him about his future plans and revealed that he has a busy schedule lined up for the next four or five years.
With a voice like his, there's no end as to which character Vin could portray
The rumors surrounding Vin of late mostly refer to his potential role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, with many speculating that he will play the alien creature Groot; a mostly speechless character that from time to time bellows "I AM GROOT!" whenever it is necessary. In a recent sit down with Entertainment Weekly this was one of the most eagerly awaited questions to be asked, and despite being coy in his answer the actor pretty much confirmed that this is who he'll be playing in the adaption.
In a Marvel double whammy, Cooper's confirmed talks also came with the news that Elizabeth Olsen is in negotiations to play the Scarlet Witch in 'Avengers 2'
Marvel studios have two highly anticipated superhero ensemble films coming out in the next few years, with Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron heading to the big screen in the next two years. With casting for both movies almost under wraps, the Disney-owned company is just adding the finishing touches to the films, including finalising the full cast; enter Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Olsen, who are the latest names to be strongly linked with a role in one of the films.
Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Olsen are both in talks with Marvel to star in their upcoming films
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cooper is in talks with Marvel Studios to voice the character Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, whilst Olsen is in discussions with Joss Whedon and co. to play the villainous Scarlet Witch in the sequel to The Avengers. Olsen's involvement was first announced by Bleeding Cool on Tuesday (20 August) before being confirmed by THR, with Cooper's involvement with GotG being first announced in Latino Review on Thursday (22 August). This years annual Comic-Con saw the world premiere of'Agents of SHIELD,' an abundance of 'GoT' talk, TV schedule announcements galore and a host of other exciting announcements from the world of television and movies and more.
At the Mecca of Geekdom - the San Diego Comic-Con International - the annual Comic-Con kick started in front of an eager audience this Thursday (July 18), with the our-day event already revealing some rather juicy pieces of information about what future films and TV shows have in store. Here's what we know so far, following the first two days of geeky gossip at the annual gathering.
Smulders appeared in the 'Agents' pilot
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the biggest talking points of the firsts two days, as ABC's Avenger's spin-off was discussed by a panel including Avengers director Joss Whedon and Agents... star Clark Gregg. Gregg discussed the miraculous recovery of his Avengers character Agent Phil Coulson, who was 'killed' by Loki in the first Avengers film only to return in time for his own starring series. Revelers got more than just a frank talk, as they were treated to a world premiere of the pilot episode for Agents..., which featured fellow Avengers star Cobie Smulders and was directed by Whedon. For those of you who weren't at Comic-Con, the series premieres on September 24.
This week's box office chart holds no surprises.
The critics definitely aren’t favoring After Earth this week and for ones, movie-goers seem to agree. M. Night Shyamalan’s crack at sci-fi, starring Will and Jaden Smith is hemorrhaging money at this point, with a measly taking of $10 million on Friday (according to The Chicago Tribune) and looking at an unimpressive $25 million in weekend takings. That’s definitely not enough to justify Sony’s $130 million investment in a project, which, it is becoming increasingly obvious, could turn out to be the year’s biggest flop. Of course, this might not be the final curtain for After Earth, but with earnings at less than half what the studio predicted (After Earth was predicted to debut at somewhere between $30 to $40 million) it isn’t looking good for the lackluster sci-fi adventure.
Meanwhile, the unlikely success of Fast & Furious 6 continues. This weekend the Dwayne Johnson flick isn’t quite putting the pedal to the metal like last week, but it’s still going at a steady $40 million on its second week of release. Then again, Fast & Furious definitely has the formula for a summer blockbuster – namely, cars, quips and scantily-clad people – down pat, while After Earth – a Frankenstein-like mix of sci-fi, drama and comedy – struggles to find its audience.
"Fast & Furious 6," will likely stay at No. 1 in its second weekend with an estimated $50 million over three days. Previous "Fast" movies have dropped sharply in their second weekends, but the strong opening for the sixth installment shows that the series may have hit its peak later on in the game.
This action blockbuster has something more, but what is it?
There are good films, there are bad films, and there are entertaining consumer films. The Fast and Furious has always fallen under the latter category, providing two hours of explosions, guns, cars and women.
We’re not suggesting for a second that The Fast And Furious 6 doesn’t provide those things, but, rather surprisingly, it’s gone one step further and impressed the critics, not to mention a fantastic performance at the box office. So often we’re used to seeing a little green splodge next to the Fast and Furious films on Rotten Tomatoes; they rarely managed an aggregate score over 50%. The sixth attempt, however, has blasted its way to a healthy 72%, with people praising the seamless thrill ride. An estimated $98.5m (£65.1m) saw it top the box office by a long way, setting records at the same time. It knocked the disappointing Hangover III out of the park – a film that would have liked to say goodbye in style, but, in the end, whimpered towards the finish line.

Fast and Furious 6 is the king of the box office, for now
The Fast And Furious 6 surprised everybody by getting some good reviews. Perhaps what wasn’t so surprising, though, is that it zoomed to the top of the box office charts. A $122 million Memorial Day debut is looking likely, which will be the studio’s biggest opening of all time.
Universal's previous best opening was Jurassic Park entry The Lost World, which debuted to $90.2 million over Memorial Day weekend in 1997."This isn't just a car racing movie anymore. It's an action pic with broad appeal," said Universal president of domestic distribution Nikki Rocco. "And it played to a tremendously diverse audience." It wasn’t so pleasing for the Hangover III, though, which underperformed both critically and financially. "Tracking had us a lot closer. It was a little surprising that we didn't reach the $80 million mark, but I can't look at a $63 million or $64 million opening and say it wasn't solid," he said. "Obviously, the first choice was Fast 6, but hopefully people will get a dose of that film and then come back to us."
It's massive, utterly ridiculous and it works!
Throughout the surprisingly long life of Fast & Furious, we’ve come to think of the franchise as something of a joke. Macho men and beautiful women revving up engines and performing absurd stunts, with barely a thread of plot to hold the whole thing together. And yet, not only is Fast & Furious still around, but the sixth installment in the series is geared up to take the weekend box office charts by a landslide. The film grossed over $38 million domestically on Friday and is projected to cash in at $120 million by the end of the holiday weekend (according to USA Today) and it miraculously earned the approval of 75% of critics and 95% of fans on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Pardon us while we stop and wonder: how on earth did this happen?
Well, there’s obviously the very enticing presence of both Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel – both of whom look like your stereotypical tough guys, but turn out to be surprisingly relatable and have really good comedic pacing. Then there are of course the members of the supporting cast – Paul Walker, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster – who’s clever and well-timed quips make this highly watchable. Then there are, of course, the machines, the explosions, your typical action flick fodder, which this franchise takes very seriously. But all that just makes for an entertaining, easily forgettable movie, perhaps one sequel. What Fast did and what’s helped the franchise not only live on, but become bigger and better, with the sixth installment being the best yet, where normally a franchise would be on its last leg, was to stop taking itself seriously. Somewhere around Fast Five the producers realized the ridiculousness of the whole premise and, instead of trying to disguise it, decided to just go for the full monty (we presume that’s how it was mentioned in meetings.)
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Ludacris and the Rock are all back for the sixth (but not last) installment of the franchise
Fast and Furious 6 gets it's U.S. release today and whilst many are scratching their heads at how the franchise ever managed to get to six films, critics and audiences alike are in agreement with each other that the big wigs behind the franchise have left the best film until last (Though there's probably going to be a seventh).
With original stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker joined by the likes of franchise regulars DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON and Ludacris (as Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges), the latest release is still very much a Fast & Furious film, but don't let that put you off just yet. With all the usual motoring chaos and carnage to expect, only this time round with a little added spice, the film is everything you could from a F&F movie, with added va-va-voom.

Rub your eyes in disbelief, Luhrmann's getting trounced
If at the beginning of the year you’d predicted that the Vin Diesel-starring Fast And Furious 6 would be getting more commercial and certainly critical acclaim than Baz Luhrmann’s hugely anticipated F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation The Great Gatsby, you’d have been deftly scooped up, carried urgently to the nearest psychiatric ward and been placed in a straitjacket with so many belts on it that you’d go around being known as ‘Auld Belty’ for the rest of your days.
It's been Vin Diesel vs. Leonardo Di Caprio at the UK Box Office
However, Gatsby has already been panned by many critics, while the sixth instalment of the brainless Fast And Furious series seems to have found favour. Now it looks like the film’s set to trounce Luhrmann’s movie at the box office too. The Independent reports that Fast And Furious 6 took more than £8.7 million at the UK box office on its debut weekend, which is more than double the £4.1 million taken by The Great Gatsby on its opening weekend. Sobering indeed.
Ex-convict Richard B. Riddick is back and more formidable than ever before. His adversaries soon return, however, determined to finally have his head (literally) but with more than one advantage over them such as the ability to see in the dark, it becomes a brutal and deadly chase with only one likely victor. Riddick has his enemies just where he wants them in his bloody scheme to rescue his home planet Furya.

The 'Fast and Furious' franchise stars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez are interviewed about the latest sequel 'Fast & Furious 6' in London. They discuss the size and scale of the movie and the chick fight between Michelle's character Letty and Gina Carano's character Riley.
'Everybody came together for this one and I think everybody across the board wanted to make this the best film which is rare', Vin explained. 'The size and scale is huge.. I think Justin [Lin - director] didn't want to be held back with too much reality on this. I think he just wanted to take off the training wheels and just go as crazy as he could go.' On her fight with Gina, Michelle explains her initial reservations about her character coming out on top despite Gina being an MMA fighter. 'I don't want it to be something fake, something that people are like, 'Yeah right, Michelle Rodriguez against an MMA fighter'', she says. 'So we got together with Justin Lin and developed the skillset and the mindset behind the fight.'

For the record, Rob Cohen's The Fast and the Furious -- which took the name from a 1955 Roger Corman racing flick, and updated the master's exploitation bent with well-deployed studio gloss -- was a perfectly enjoyable piece of work. Throwing squadrons of neon-colored muscle cars and a still-trying Vin Diesel into the middle of an overheated potboiler drama about family honor and loyalty turned out to be a genius stroke; the thing left scorch marks. It moved with the skillful speed of well-honed pulp. By contrast, the near-laughable Fast & Furious (directed by Justin Lin, who did the honors on the last installment, Tokyo Drift) tries far too hard and achieves very little.
