London folk rock 6-piece The Murder Barn have kindly released their track 'In Every Sea We Drown' for free download this week ahead of their forthcoming EP 'Gotta Good Man' which is out on November 5th 2012. The song will not, however, feature with the other songs on the EP.
The video for the track is in typical Murder Barn vaudevillian style with jerky animation and puppetry, black and white images and vocalist Chesca Dolecka in an old fashioned rowing boat. The track is quite reminiscent of a less dark Emilie Autumn with its carnival like composition and a brief midway switch into a heavier, more guitar-based rock tune.
Chesca Dolecka and Becca Grover Jones are sisters of Anglo Polish / Lebanese heritage which definitely serves as a massive influence on their unique sound having been raised surrounded by classical violinists, drummers and trumpeters etc. Teamed with Matt Jones from Ultrasound, Kevin Feazey who has produced music for The Kills and The Duke Spirit, Ryan Wilson and drummer Velibor Krstic, they have been hard at work over the past year creating singles, albums, videos and album artwork by themselves in their home studios and it certainly hasn't gone to waste.
