Electronic solo artist Sunset Graves unveils a simple but effective video for 'Safe And Empty'; the first single from his debut album 'Variant' due for release on September 23rd 2013 through 3rd & Debut records.
The video opens on a glorious sunset across a field and continues as a one shot clip as translucent images of barbed wire, cogs, snow and various other things appear over the clip. The song has a trip hop feel to it with a repetitive synth melody and echoing vocals and drums - it almost feels like a strange dream, particularly with its markedly lengthy, gradual crackling fade out.
Sunset Graves - also known as Andy Fosberry - recorded all the album tracks in his own studio using instruments all played by himself. He released no less than five EPs in 2012 before deciding to try a more stripped back approach to his music and presenting us with a unique collection of songs, each with its own distinctions (hence the album title, 'Variant'). 'To find my voice, I had to stop singing', Sunset Graves said about moving on to a new project. The lack of domineering vocals certainly doesn't take anything away from the beautiful tones of 'Safe And Empty'.
