Lucky Number Music –February 6th 2006
New mixes from Chicken Lips, Mr.Dan & Jake Bullit
Sebastien Tellier, Parisian musical maestro and performer extraordinaire returns with a brand new version of 'Broadway' on February 6th 2006 on Lucky Number. Taken from his highly acclaimed album 'Politics', 'Broadway' is a shout out to good ol' Private Rico from Robert Heinlein's 1959 Science Fiction novel, & later the Paul Verhoeven-directed futuristic military thrill ride movie, "Starship Troopers". The call is for irresistibly primal hero Rico to come save us as outside chaos reigns all around. Once again Sebastien captures the bittersweet dichotomy of life within his own unique melodic multi-layering, soothing empowerment & vocal assurance that deliver us all safely back into the here & now. 'Broadway' follows the massive club, press, & radio praise received by 'La Ritournelle'- considered by many to be one of singles of 2005 - & once again has been reworked by one-time Kylie collaborator Mr. Dan. The single also comes with new mixes courtesy of Chicken Lips' electro-wizardry, & a wonderful electro-pop affirmation, where Moroder meets Morricone, from the son of a Wizzard, Jake Bullit!
There is only one Sebastien Tellier, an exceptional, highly personal & intimate artist echoing such other one-offs as Robert Wyatt, Syd Barrett or Serge Gainsbourg : an individual, an indomitable post mortal, a poet, & a wild man of many talents. 'Politics', his marvelous & mysterious second album, brings together such diverse supporting talent as the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, filmmaker /producer Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr Oizo), legendary producer/mixer Philippe Zdar, whose La Funk Mob records exported French cool before Daft Punk, together with the original funky drummer, Tony Allen, who could be said to have had a greater influence on the invention of Afro-beat than Fela Kuti himself, whose bands he lead for years - from his 60's hi-life act Koola Lobitos, through to the legendary Afrika'70 & beyond.
Sebastien recently played a sold out show at London's Bush Hall & a brace of dates up & down the country as special guest to Royksopp, wowing the transfixed throng with his charismatically assured performance & leaving the tour with legions of new fans like the pied piper of Paris. He will return to the UK for a series of dates around 'Broadway'. As time ticks on & the New Year ushers in new worries & new conflict - witness, of course, Paris of late - we once again look to Sebastien to guide us forward, with help from Private Johnny Rico of course.
Out with the old, in with the brave and bold…Sebastien Tellier is our new champion.

Trump's unexpected presidential election victory has caused U2 to re-think a number of their songs for their upcoming 14th album, they say.
