Bristol singer-songwriter Rob Bravery unveils the video for his new track 'Knock Out Ginger'; the first single release from his forthcoming album 'Esque' which is due for release in 2015.
The black and white video is set in a field and features a string of bizarre images including roses, triangular mirrors and children in masks in unusual masks. The song itself is sonically also a little surreal, a menacing synth buzz and measured but thumping drum beats giving way to breathy, echoing vocals and a more melodic tone as the song progresses. It's a psychedelic number with pleasant pop touches and appears to end in much the same way as it begins.
'I wrote the song shortly after a meeting with an A&R person who advised me to go away and write some choruses', Bravery admits of 'Knock Out Ginger'. 'Lyrically, it's basically a collection of childhood scenes. Like Schumann's 'Kinderszenen' but with a difficult chorus.'
