Tom Morello led supergroup Prophets Of Rage have just unveiled 'Unf**k The World' - the lead track from their newly announced self-titled album, which is set to be released in the Fall. Plus, an accompanying video has also been launched with the help of director Michael Moore.
After forming in 2016 off the back of the tumultuous US presidential election and winning quite the following with their successful 'Make America Rage Again' tour and 'The Party's Over' EP, Prophets of Rage are finally releasing their debut album produced by Brendan O'Brien which they have named after themselves.
'Unf**k The World' is the first single from the album. Directed by the Academy Award winning documentary maker Michael Moore ('Bowling for Columbine', 'Sicko'), the video features a variety of clips from America now versus America in the past - military imagery, political addresses and commentary on social media.
'I am thrilled to once again be working with my old friends and comrades in the struggle for a just world', Michael said in a statement. 'Prophets Of Rage is the right band, saying the right s**t, at this very critical moment. This music video is our collective battle cry against those who seek to harm the innocent and the powerless.'
Prophets Of Rage is made up of Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy, and B-Real from Cypress Hill. 'There were rhythms before there were words', said Morello. 'Music has both the ability to reflect and transform the times. There's a long history of that, from slave spirituals, to 'We Shall Overcome,' to the Sex Pistols.'
The band will be coming to Europe for a festival tour this summer, appearing at Download in the UK and Paris, Pinkpop in the Netherlands, Rock Am Ring in Germany, Hellfest in France and Rock Werchter in Belgium among others. They also play London's O2 Academy on June 13th, and return to ths US in the Fall for Chicago's Riot Fest and Louisville's Louder Than Life.
