Greece-born and London-based singer-songwriter Leon of Athens has unveiled a unique video for his newest single 'Baby Asteroid', which is set to be released officially on October 16th 2015 via Mimosa's Dream Records.
The video was directed by fashion filmmaker Marie Schuller and features a girl suspended in space, while Leon walks the Earth in a spacesuit, alongside a body of water lit by a sunset. He strips off his spacesuit and runs for miles, only to stop as the girl crash lands down to the Earth apparently unscathed. There's an upbeat synth melody to the track, coupled with energetic guitar and heavy drums, but it's underlined by dreamlike, harmonised vocals that give it a softer, and indeed more space-like, edge.
Leon of Athens (aka Timoleon Vermis) wrote the song in a charming village in Corfu, just one example of his home nation having a heavy influence on his work despite the financial meltdown of Greece. The new song follows the earlier release of his previous single 'Global'.
