Ed Vallance's new single, Crystalline, is the lead single taken from his sophomore album, Volcano, while will be released on April 9th, 2012, through Proof Records. Ed is planning a UK tour in March 2012, with dates to be announced; a video for song Black and White Light will also be revealed in the same month.
The video for Crystalline was directed by LA-based director Andreas Trollf who's recently worked with Papercuts & Datarock; it was shot in New York and Long Island. We see a journey made by a mysterious woman (portrayed by Hallie Newton) in reverse: she walks along a beach at sunset, then makes a long journey through the city back to her small apartment by mid-morning.
Ed was born in London but was raised in New York. His debut album, The Modern Life, was recorded in Los Angeles in 2008 and was well received. Ed now lives in Brooklyn and has built up a loyal following.
Volcano was produced with the help of Mark Ephraim, who, in the past, has worked with Joan As Policewoman; Dirty on Purpose and New Pornographers. Volcano's sound is already drawing comparisons to Thom Yorke, Bryan Ferry and Talk Talk.
