Rhode Island natives Deer Tick return with the release of their fourth album Divine Providence via Loose Music. A follow up to the widely received 2010 release Black Dirt Sessions, Divine Providence is the first album the band recorded in their home state and whilst they may have returned home to record the album they seem to have left their traditionally folk and country sound behind them.
The band has become renowned for their energetically raw, loud and heartfelt musical live sets and with Divine Providence they have incorporated this style into their studio output with tremendous effect. Whilst this album and the accompanying videos may make you question what you thought you already knew about Deer Tick but they are still essentially the same five-piece with the same ideals and values, and at least they didn't end up making the same album four times over.
A free EP, the Tim EP, will be issued alongside the first 1000 copies of the album, sporting unreleased material from the Divine Providence sessions including an acoustic version of 'Main Street.' If that wasn't enough for Deer Tick fans then you may be pleased to know that the band are currently undertaking a European tour, with a date in London set for April 4th.
