China Rats - (At Least Those) Kids Are Getting Fed

Pop punk band from Leeds China Rats are set to release their self-produced new single '(At Least Those) Kids Are Getting Fed' on October 8th 2012 via Once Upon A time Records.

Lead vocalist Graeme Thomson has revealed that he wrote the song when he lived in the Leeds town of Armley with lead guitarist Luke Smith, inspired by a group of kids who used to spend their time hanging out on the streets. The video for the track features footage from around the town - houses, shops, and blocks of flats - and the band rocking out in their basement. It's a perfect mix of pop and punk; it's lyrically very punk but with an infectious rhythm that could make it the stuff of chart music.

The string of shows that China Rats (Thomson, Smith, bassist Jedidiah Allcock and drummer George Riley) have definitely served as an example of quality over quantity with appearances at Live at Leeds, 'London Calling' festival in Amsterdam, Leeds Festival and Spain's Benicassim where they played on a small stage the day before the main bulk of the festival started but were later asked to step in for Bat For Lashes who was unable to attend due to transportation difficulties. They also have some brand new dates this autumn with later dates yet to be announced.
