Bear Driver's new single, Never Never, was released as a free download and will be released as a double A side with Let The Cold on January 2nd 2012. Their upcoming debut album, Nashville Skyline, will be released in spring 2012 on Adventure Club Records. The video for the single was created using film originally shot by Michel Parry in the 1990s.
Bear Driver - Harry Dean (Vocals / Guitar); Oli Deakin (Vocals / Guitar); Jon Rulton (Bass / Muscles); Joseph Croft (Keyboards) and Richie Harwood (Drums) - produced their album themselves over three days and mixed it on a computer. They recorded the album live in a disused swimming pool, which is favoured by Blur's Graham Coxon and Nick Cave of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
"We wanted to record live so we went up to the Lake District to work on all the new songs before we recorded them. When we got to the studio in London we just played through them all really fast and then listened back to see what we'd got. Most of them ended up being just one take. We found some cool old keyboards there too, a dusty old Wurlitzer piano that we used on 'Never Never', and a bright red Farfisa organ. We took the tracks home and spent a week mixing them, trying to keep as much of the live sound as possible, all the hiss and noise that you get from old mics and amps, and before we knew it we had our album"
The (now) London based quintet originally made a name for themselves playing in Leeds. Earlier this year the band played at SXSW alongside their contemporaries And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
