London electro/soul singer Alecs (the stage moniker of Alex Treharne) unveils the video to his soulful new single 'Give It Up'; the lead track from his upcoming debut EP 'The Fulham Tapes' out February 24th 2014. The single is currently available for free download.
The video is a simple black and white performance video, almost completely darkened apart from Alecs and a patterned backdrop occasionally illuminated. It reflects the melancholy tone of the track which is led by desperately soulful echoing vocals on top of a driving pop melody, an R&B rhythm and heavy dance synth vibes.
'I've been told 'Give It Up' hits the listener like a wall of sound, which probably has a lot to do with my production technique', Alecs explained. 'But the EP as a whole is a bit more Lo-Fi. I'm focusing on the electronic aspect of my music and it has a real post R&B vibe.' Alecs is only 20-years-old but is already receiving attention from the likes of BBC Introducing and the single has exceeded fifteen thousand listens on Soundcloud since its release. He has a few live shows up and coming including gigs at Surya in London this month and The Nest in March next year.
