The remains of legendary ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky's widow have finally been buried beside him in Paris' Montmartre cemetery - 27 years after she passed away.

ROMOLA NIKINSKAYA, who died destitute in 1978, requested to be buried beside her late husband, but SERGE LIFAR - who owned the burial plot - refused to grant permission and she was instead buried a few metres away.

Lifar's widow - a Swedish countess - finally gave permission for Nikinskaya to join her husband last year (04) and she was exhumed and reinterred in a family ceremony earlier this year (05).

Nijinski married Nikinskaya in 1913 after finding fame with the BALLETS RUSSES. He died in London in 1950, and his ashes were moved to Paris three years later.
