Vanessa Hudgens has replaced Britney Spears as the face of Candie's.

The actress takes over from the 'Hold It Against Me' hitmaker as the model of the juniors clothing brand, and was personally congratulated on her appointment by the US singer herself.

Britney, 29, tweeted: "So fun being a Candie's Girl! Look out for the @Candiesbrand pics of their new girl, Vanessa Hudgens! - Brit (sic)."

Vanessa, 22, then sent a tweet back to thank her and also revealed her own excitement at the appointment.

She wrote: "Thnx, @BritneySpears, you're a tough act to follow...but, I'm so excited to be the new Candie's girl for 2011!! - xo. (sic)"

'High School Musical' star Vanessa - whose campaign was shot by photographer Tony Duran in Sun Valley, California - will make her debut in March.

Vanessa revealed she has been a fan of the brand ever since Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie appeared in an advertising campaign for them and admitted she was overwhelmed at the chance to follow in her idol's footsteps.

She said: "Ever since I saw Fergie do the ads for Candie's I fell in love. It's such an honour to be able to be a Candie's girl now!"

Vanessa's next movie role is 'Beastly', a modern day take on 'Beauty And The Beast' co-starring Alex Pettyfer and Mary-Kate Olsen.
