LATEST: HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star Vanessa Hudgens is facing a breach-of-contract lawsuit after a judge gave her former attorney the go-ahead to file an application against her on Wednesday (05Dec07). Hudgens' ex-lawyer Brian Schall alleges the 18-year-old actress owes him over $150,000 (GBP75,000) in back commissions after he helped her become a star and make over $5 million (GBP2.5 million) from her songwriting and recording career. Hudgens counters that Schall's work was "below professional standard" and that, as she only 16 at the time of signing the contract with him, she was too young for it to hold legal weight. She claims the deal breaks California's Family Code law because she was under 18 when she signed it. However, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Tricia Ann Bigelow has ruled that, as Hudgens was 18 years and nine months old when legal proceedings began, she had waited too long to try and void the contract. Judge Bigelow set a hearing for 15 January (08).
