Legendary singer/songwriter Van Morrison is set to be granted the Freedom of Belfast.

City council officials are expected to agree the honour at a meeting next month (Sep13), and the Brown Eyed Girl singer, 68, who was born in the Northern Ireland capital, is set to receive the accolade next year.

It will be the latest in a long line of high honours for the star, who has netted six Grammy Awards and inductions to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
