The Summer has been good to Vadoinmessico. From supporting Anna Calvi at Bush Hall, to playing the same stage as Fat Freddy's Drop at Alex James' 'Harvest' Festival, as well as great radio and on-line support for their singles 'Curling Up Your Spine' and 'Pepita, Queen of The Animals', the band now release their third single 'Teeo'.
Originally on a bootlegged EP, and leaked on-line by 'friends' of the band in Madrid, this is the definitive version of this song, re-recorded along with the rest of the album in various ramshackle locations, and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Portishead) who fell in love with the band on first listen. After an amazing remix by Lapalux for the previous single, rumors abound that Crystal Fighters are turning their hand to Teeo.
As usual, Vadoinmessico have crafted an exotic mixture of sounds: original instrumentation with Latin rhythms and haunting melodies. Even if you can't catch every lyric on first listen, the sense of nostalgia in the song seeps into you. A perfect song to draw in the Autumn.
As beautiful, rhythmic and sonically rich Vadoinmessico's songs are recorded, make sure you catch the band playing live, as the energy of their live show and the presence of the various members of the band creates something truly special. With members from Italy, Mexico, Austria and the UK (but all dwelling in Hackney) this is a unique collective.
