Usher's new album CONFESSIONS has smashed R+B sales records in America, debuting at number one on the charts with a staggering 1.1 million copies sold in a week.

The total is the highest debut figure since 1.9 million people rushed out to buy 'N Sync's CELEBRITY in 2001.

Confessions doubled the previous best one-week sales figure for an R+B artist - R Kelly's TP-2.COM sold 540,000 copies in 2000.

The success means Usher is now the king of the world after topping both albums and singles charts in Europe, Australasia and America.
