R&B superstar Usher had to scrap a concert in Virginia on Saturday (11Dec10) after suffering an injury during his performance in New Jersey the night before.
The Yeah! hitmaker, full name Usher Raymond IV, was due to delight fans in Norfolk at the weekend, but he cancelled the gig on Saturday afternoon on the advice of his doctor.
The nature of his injury was not revealed, although his representatives have assured devotees it is "not serious" and he will be back on the road on Monday (13Dec10) - when he is scheduled to kick off the first of two nights at New York's famed Madison Square Garden.
A statement posted on his official website on Saturday reads: "AEG Live regrets to announce that today's scheduled appearance by Usher at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, has to be postponed due to a physical injury suffered last night in a performance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
"The attending physician has recommended that Mr. Raymond take the next 2 days to recuperate and heal. The injury is not serious and Mr. Raymond is scheduled to perform Monday night in New York City at the first of two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden."
And the singer has promised to make it up to ticket holders in Virginia at a later date.
Taking to his Facebook.com page on Sunday (12Dec10), Usher adds: "Thank you to all of my fans for your outpouring of concern and support. I will be there soon to give you an amazing show."
