Tyler Perry has been taking some heat for casting reality star Kim Kardashian in his upcoming movie 'The Marriage Counsellor', despite an online petition seeking to have her removed from American television.
Following her farcical 72 day marriage to Nba star Kris Humphries, Kardashian isn't the most popular star in Hollywood at the moment, but writer and director Perry seemingly had no qualms in casting her as co-worker of the movie's lead, played by Jurnee Smollett. The decision has angered fans of Tyler's movies, who aired their dismay at the casting on Twitter, and actress Holly Robinson Peete also weighed in on the subject during her guest hosting of Access Hollywood Live. The 47-year-old joked, "We can always count on Tyler Perry to give a blacktress a job. So all across the world blacktresses are upset", before adding, "No, it's [an] amazing PR move. It's actually pretty smart and the timing is great. Like her brand, this drama will be good for the film. So, it's actually kind of brilliant in a way. I don't have any problems with it".
The Marriage Counsellor is a big screen adaptation of Perry's 2008 play of the same name, following an Ivy-league education counsellor who gives marriage advice every day, yet finds difficulty assessing the problems in her own relationship.
