'Gone Girl' opened the New York Film Festival on Friday 26th September. In addition to the film's cast - some of whom include Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris and Rosamund Pike - other famous faces who attended the event included Reese Witherspoon, Lisa Banes and David Clennon.
The opening of the New York Film Festival on Friday (26th September) was attended by many of the great and the good from the acting community. Check out the pictures from the red carpet!
Ben Affleck stars in Gone Girl.
Does the trailer actually give away anything we didn't already know?
The first trailer for David Fincher’s Gone Girl is out. The last bit of news about the Gillian Flynn adaptation came out months ago, so the trailer provides a helpful reminder that A. The project is still moving ahead and B. It looks quite good at this point. Ben Affleck plays Nick Dunne, whose wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. Nick soon ends up as the primary suspect in the police investigation and has to find his wife to prove his innocence.
The first trailer gives us very little to go on.
The new trailer emphasizes the investigation and the pressure that Affleck’s character feels as the suspicion falls squarely on him. It also seems to feature Amy’s lifeless body, meaning that Nick will face a murder investigation at some point in the film. The trailer also plays up the barrage of media attention that Nick and the investigation attract, so this will probably be a prominent subject in the film.
'The Single Mom's Club' is a heart-warming comedy about going it alone as a parent.
The Single Mom's Club is released today and critics have gingerly begun to offer their initial reactions to Tyler Perry's sassy new comedy. The film sees comedy master Perry stars alongside Nia Long, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Zulay Henao, William Levy, Terry Crews, Eddie Cibrian, Amy Smart, Cocoa Brown, Ryan Eggold.
'The Single Mom's Club' Sees Four Single Mothers Come Together To Support Each Other In New Tyler Perry Comedy.
The movie centres on a group of single mothers from different backgrounds who are brought together via a troubling incident at the school their children attend, which leads to the creation of a support group that helps all of them overcome personal obstacles and bond over their shared parenting trials. Together, they work through their problems, helping one another to find love again and getting their hectic lives back on track.
Razzie 'favourite' Adam Sandler is up for yet another Worst Actor gong and newbies Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga earn their first nods
It's awards season, which means it is the time when the stars of Hollywood gather together to congratulate themselves on another successful year of moviemaking. It is also the period when some of Hollywood's more questionable tastes are exposed and then routinely mocked, thanks to the annual Golden Raspberry Awards.
All of the Grown Ups 2 cast are up for an award, but it is Sandler who earns the most recognition
An established 'favourite' with the Razzies committee, Adam Sandler is up for his 19th, 20th and 21st Razzie nomination and might make it three Worst Actor wins in a row, with his role in Grown Ups 2 up against Johnny Depp in The Lone Ranger, Ashton Kutcher in Jobs, Jaden Smith in After Earth and Sylvester Stallone for pretty much all of his movies from 2013; Bullet to the Head, Escape Plan, and Grudge Match.
Tyler Perry's new movie isn't just for women, or even parents.
New Tyler Perry comedy The Single Moms club may sound like it's aimed at solely lonely or angry single mothers but this energetic, sweet-natured and heart-warming comedy will make even the most sceptical of viewers chuckle with recognition.
Four Single Mothers Come Together To Share Their Troubles In This Sweet & Funny Movie.
The movie centres on a group of single mothers from different backgrounds who are brought together via a troubling incident at the school their children attend, which leads to the creation of a support group that helps all of them overcome personal obstacles and bond over their shared parenting trials.
Feeling underappreciated and frequently undermined, many single mothers have to go through a lot to keep their children happy and to make sure they have as normal a life as possible. However, no matter how hard one might try, sometimes the children will inevitably get themselves into trouble and when five mothers of very different backgrounds are called into school when their offspring are found vandalising the school, they are forced to work together to organise and chair the upcoming annual fundraiser. The parents soon find, however, that they have much more in common than they initially thought and decide to set up a support group for desperate single mothers going through similar experiences. With new people there for each other, they help one another to find love again and get their confused and hectic lives back on track.
This weekend saw Smaug incinerate the competition at the box office.
As predicted, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the clear winner of this past weekend’s box office. The second installment in Bilbo Baggins’ journey predictably came in first with $73,6 million, although it didn’t face much in the way of competition this weekend.
Martin Freeman returns as Bilbo Baggins.
Even so, the second Hobbit film saw a noticeable drop from its predecessor, which opened last year to $83,6 million, making it a 13% drop. The film is predicted around $263 domestically, but that would still put it behind An Unexpected Journey's $303 million stateside and $1 billion in worldwide earnings.

Will Madea manage to save Christmas for the family? Or will holiday spirits drop to an all time low as the New Year approaches?

Peeples is the latest of Tyler Perry's movies, starring Django Unchained star Kerry Washington.
Tyler Perry’s conveyor belt of movies has thrown up another light-hearted comedy, this time in the form of Peeples, directed by Tina Gordon Chism and starring Django Unchained star Kerry Washington and Craig Robinson. It centers around a well-off East Coast family celebrating a reunion weekend in the Hamptons. However, the retreat is interrupted when their daughter Grace’s (Washington) fiance Wade (Robinson) crashes the party to announce their surprise engagement.
It's that time of year again! The nominations for this year's Razzies have been announced, with Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - which made a ridiculous $814 million at the box office - leading the way with 11 nominations, including Worst Film and Worst Sequel. A spoof of the Academy Awards, this year's Razzies' picks arrived just one day before Thursday's Oscar nominations. So which directors, actors and actresses will have let out a giant, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" when catching wind of the infamous nominations today? And perhaps more importantly, who should win (or lose). Which movies and performances really were the worst of the worst? Here goes.

While Judith may not have the natural credibility for her job as a marriage counsellor, having only ever experienced male affection from her husband of six years (partner for nearly twenty), she works at a highly well respected practice with a clientele of mainly well-off people, with dreams of setting up her own private business. One day she finds herself familiar with one of her new clients, whom she happens to see often while out jogging. In spite of herself, she finds herself unable to resist his charms, as her own domestic life slowly begins to fail. While she initially believes him to be an escape, it soon becomes clear that he is abusive and controlling, and pretty soon she's going to have to tell her husband her heartbreaking secret before anymore damage can be done. Can this marriage expert save her own relationship? Or is it too late even for her?
'Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions Of A Marriage Counselor' is an ironic tale of how love and lust can engulf even the most moral of people. It's the thirteenth film from director, writer and producer Tyler Perry ('I Can Do Bad All by Myself', 'Why Did I Get Married?') and was released in March 2013.
Director: Tyler Perry
Kim Kardashian must really be sick of people asking her what she's famous for because she has actually been doing what can only be described as work (in a sense) over the past few months.
Now, her latest professional turn sees her in front of the camera and actually acting (well...) rather than whatever she normally does when she's being filmed. Clearly, this is big news.
The new trailer for Tyler Perry's next movie, Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Councillor, shows Kim K in the role of Ava, a sassy matchmaker, who in the trailer is seen disparaging a co-worker's fashion sense since it’s not representative of their business - I wonder where they came up with that character development? As well as talking about clothes, Kim's character also dates rich men, but then again did anyone really expect to see her as Lady MacBeth in her first role?
The network announced the news today (Dec 20) that Berry and Khan would be amongst next years inductees into the honour list, with basketball star Lisa Leslie, music executive Clarence Avant and religious leader T.D. Jakes also being honoured. The ceremony will take place on January 12th in Washington, D.C., at the Warner Theatre. The show special airs on BET a month later on February 11th, with a host of special performances also taking place on the night.
BET Honors are awarded yearly to African Americans who have been recognised by BET as having exceeded in their fields of music, literature, entertainment, education and more. The awards presentation was devised in 2008 by the broadcasting company to coincide with Black History Month, with Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, Magic Johnson, Tyler Perry, Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder having been honoured in the past. Next years ceremony will be presented by Gabrielle Union, with the list of performers at the event being held for the time being. At least this gives Halle something to look forward to, should she be fearing her Christmas celebrations go the same way as her Thanksgiving festivities went.
We’re entering something of a pre-Christmas lull in the land of the blockbuster movie but there is still plenty of activity in the land of cinema this weekend… and not all of it is paranormal.
The film that everyone is talking about this week is The Sessions. The movie – starring Helen Hunt, John Hawkes and William H Macy - debuted at the Sundance Festival earlier this year and wowed the critics with its “profoundly sex-positive” story. The Sessions tells the tale of a man, paralysed by polio, who seeks the help of a priest and eventually a sex therapist, to help him lose his virginity. The performances are touching, the script (based on the writings of California-based journalist Mark O’Brien) is tender and funny. If critical opinion is anything to go by, The Sessions should be heading towards the top of the box office chart.
Alex Cross is a homicide detective in Washington DC who comes across a series of gruesome and elaborate murders on duty. The victims look as if they've been tortured to death with a reasonable amount of skill, as if the perpetrator was an expert in inflicting pain. Cross deduces that their suspect is ex-military going by his techniques and it doesn't take long before he and the murderer, Michael 'The Butcher' Sullivan make contact. It is clear that Sullivan is deranged, believing that inflicting pain is his calling in life. In spite of any mental incapacities, however, Cross loses all sense of his own morality and indeed sanity when Sullivan targets and murders his beautiful wife on their anniversary and he sets out to track down this killer once and for all, though things do not appear as easy as he might've thought.
'Alex Cross' is the crime thriller adapted from the popular American novelist James Patterson's twelfth book on the character, 'Cross'. The movie's screenplay has been written by Marc Moss, who also wrote the previous Alex Cross-based movie 'Along Came a Spider', alongside Kerry Williamson in her writing debut. With a director like Rob Cohen ('The Fast and the Furious', 'xXx'), expect high-energy action and thrilling danger from this exciting upcoming flick set ton hit UK cinemas on November 30th 2012.
Starring: Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Jean Reno, Giancarlo Esposito, Rachel Nichols, Edward Burns, John C. McGinley, Yara Shahidi, Chad Lindberg, Cicely Tyson, Carmen Ejogo, Stephanie Jacobsen and Ingo Rademacher
