Scottish rockers Travis ditched long-term producer Nigel Godrich to record their new album by themselves, after he spurned them for chart rivals Radiohead.

The group were sick of "playing second fiddle" to the PARANOID ANDROID hitmakers, so they decided to sack Godrich and finish new LP 12 MEMORIES on their own.

Travis frontman Fran Healy explains, "We're like Nigel's part time lover. To be honest, I was fed up playing second fiddle to Radiohead.

"Nigel was so frazzled after (Radiohead album) KID A, we were his therapists after those sessions. He's one of my best mates, but I'm so happy we did it this way.

"I think he missed us, though. I played some of it for him in the car when we were recording, and he turned around and said, 'Why weren't you writing like this when you were with me?'"
