Two teenagers were killed and more than 180 passengers were injured when an Asiana Airlines plane crash landed at San Francisco's airport, and frightening images of the accident showed the jet on fire as rescue crews battled to extinguish the blaze.
The incident brought back terrifying memories for Blink-182 rocker Travis Barker, who nearly lost his life when the private jet he was travelling in crashed in South Carolina in 2008, and he was among the first to reach out to the victims of the San Francisco disaster.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "Prayers go out to everybody in the plane crash in San Francisco and their families /loved ones."
While pop star Britney Spears also reached out to those affected, writing, "My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco," and actress Chloe Grace Moretz offers, "My prayers and thoughts go out to everyone affected by the 777 Asiana plane crash. God bless."
Olivia Munn, Holly Robinson Peete and William Shatner were also among the stars who sent messages of sympathy to the victims.
