Sci-fi sequel Transformers: Age Of Extinction has destroyed its rivals to land at the top of the U.K. box office chart.

The action movie, starring Mark Wahlberg, took $19.8 million (£11.7 million) in its opening weekend (11-13Jul14), easily outstripping its nearest challenger How To Train Your Dragon 2, which netted $13 million (£7.7 million).

Tv sitcom spin-off Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie was toppled from its perch at the top and sunk to third place, with $1.7 million (£1 million), and romantic drama The Fault in Our Stars dropped from second to fourth, with $949,664 (£558,626).

It was a disappointing opening weekend for Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo's new comedy Begin Again - the movie limped into fifth place with takings of just $775,944 (£456,438).
