During the 1970's there were no wines that could rival that of the French, the French vineyards were the pinnacle of perfection. New World wines didn't exist, and if they did, they were laughed upon.
The first real competition the chardonnay vineyards saw came from a very unlikely source. Jim Barrett set up a vineyard in California, he and his partner didn't have any real experience but they had huge passion for what they were doing, even though the rest of the world looked on never taking their wines seriously. They risked everything entering their wine into the most prestigious wine competition, The Paris Wine Tasting of 1976.
Starring: Bill Pullman, Alan Rickman, Chris Pine, Eliza Dushku, Freddy Rodríguez and Rachael Taylor.
