Tracy Morgan's lawyer gave an update on the actor's condition.
Tracy Morgan is out of the woods and out of care following his car crash earlier this year, but the actor is still struggling, according to his lawyer. Benedict Morelli, attorney revealed details of the actor’s condition two months after the New Jersey pileup. While the actor is no longer in danger, he is “struggling” to recover, Morelli revealed. He is also still mourning the death of friend and mentor James McNair, known professionally as Uncle Jimmy Mack.
Morgan's recovery is a slow and difficult process, his lawyer revealed.
According to Morelli, Morgan has made some progress, but still has a long way to go in his recovery.
"The truth is he's struggling, but he's fighting hard," Morelli said on Monday’s edition of The Today Show.
Judging by Morelli’s statement, there wasn’t a lot of new information to reveal – recovery is a slow and arduous process, after Morgan’s numerous injuries. The comedian was left in critical condition for a couple of weeks, after he came out of a pile up with a Wal-Mart truck. The crash, which took place on the New Jersey Turnpike on June 7, left him with a broken leg and several broken ribs, among other injuries.Morgan, his assistant Jeffrey Millea, and comedian Ardie Fuqua were all injured. Morelli said Morgan can't shake feeling responsible for the deadly accident.
"He's got the fighting spirit, but every day is different. Some days he's very down."
Meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing, with the truck driver, Kevin Roper, charged with vehicular homicide and assault. Concerns have been raised in the public domain about the work practices of Wal-Mart drivers and the extended hours, which could possibly leave them with a limited ability to focus on road safety. Wal-Mart called the accident a "terrible tragedy," and has vowed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. The retail giant also said it would take "full responsibility" if Roper was found to be at fault.
Tracy Morgan survived the car crash, but his full recovery will take a while.
