Only days after filing a lawsuit against Walmart, the comedian is released from a rehabilitation center after receiving 5 weeks of intense treatment for injuries sustained in last month's car crash.
After receiving five weeks of intense treatment, the '30 Rock' star was able to return home on Saturday (July 12th) to continue healing from several serious injuries he sustained in the incident.
"Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program," said a statement from his rep Lewis Kay.
Adding, "He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point."
Morgan, who was travelling in a limo bus when a Walmart tuck crashed into it at the start of last month, endured a broken nose, broken ribs, and underwent emergency surgery to repair a broken femur.
The six car pileup, which occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike on Sat 7th June, tragically killed Morgan's mentor, 63-year-old James McNair of Peekshill, New York.
The comedian's release from rehab comes only days after he filed a lawsuit against Walmart over the tragic crash.
The man behind the wheel of the Walmart truck, Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, pleaded not guilty to one count of vehicular homicide and four counts of assault by auto, during his first court appearance at Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on June 11th.
According to a criminal complaint filed by New Jersey State Police driver caused the accident by driving his truck "without having slept for a period in excess of 24 hours."
Morgan's legal papers argue that Roper fell asleep moments before impacting with their limo bus.
"We know it will take some time to resolve all of the remaining issues as a result of the accident, but we're committed to doing the right thing for all involved," Walmart said in a statement on Saturday.
The driver is currently out of jail on $50,000 bail, but if convicted of all charges he will face up to 15 years in prison.
Morgan is now recovering at home
