Footage of the actor Tracy Morgan looking unwell as he took to the red carpet at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival has emerged, via ShowbizRaw.com. Not long after the footage was recorded, the 30 Rock star collapsed and was rushed to hospital. The comedian was at the festival to promote his film Predisposed, as well as being honoured at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Awards.
An article accompanying the footage states that Morgan's publicist, Lewis Kay has released a statement saying that Tracy was unwell, from a "a combination of exhaustion and altitude." He went on to say that the actor was with his fiancee and that he was "is grateful to the Park City Medical Center for their care." Quick to dispel rumors that often spring up when a celebrity falls ill suddenly, Lewis also confirmed that "Any reports of Tracy consuming alcohol are 100% false." In the red carpet clip, it appears as if Tracy is being propped up by those around him and unable to walk of his own accord. Morgan made his acceptance speech onstage and about an hour later, he passed out.
In addition to his appearances in 30 Rock, Tracy Morgan also appeared as a cast member of Saturday Night Live for eight seasons. The film Predisposed, which Morgan was promoting at Sundance, is a comic drama starring Melissa Leo and Jesse Eisenberg, as well as Tracy himself. This recent incident is not the first time that Morgan has suffered with health problems. In 2010, he underwent a kidney transplant. It is unclear at present whether or not his collapse was related to his kidney troubles, or to his diabetes, with which he also suffers.
