Red Meat Review


Weak
They "go to the gym, eat red meat, and talk about girls."

And so this straight-to-DVD-after-five-years-on-the-shelf flick would be dismissed as a pale imitation of In the Company of Men, if only it weren't written and directed by a woman, Allison Burnett. And not only is she a woman, she's the very woman who wrote both Bloodsport III: Forced to Fight and Autumn in New York!*

Moving (1988) Review


Good
As Richard Pryor non-concert comedies go, Moving is pretty much at the top of the list. That may not be saying much, but Pryor's incredibly put-upon performance makes it mostly worthwhile. The movie follows Pryor as his life bottoms out in New Jersey, only to be renewed by a dream job in Idaho. The relocation process takes center stage, as everything that can go wrong, does. Cute and harmless.

Fright Night Part II Review

The original Fright Night is a mini classic of gore and gags -- so why wouldn't you follow it up with a sequel?

Fright Night Part II picks up three years later, after Charley (William Ragsdale) has been therapized into believing that vampires don't exist, which does him little good when the sister (Julie Carmen) of Chris Sarandon's vampire from Fright I, comes after him for vengeance. Soon enough Charley's turning vamp himself... so it's Roddy McDowall's vampire hunter to the rescue once again.
