Harding became world famous in 1994 after she was accused of being involved in an attack on rival skater Nancy Kerrigan before the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The attack was later found out to be set up by her former husband and bodyguard.
Margot Robbie will play Tonya Harding in a new biopic.
Deadline first reported Robbie’s casting as Harding, in the biopic which will be titled, I, Tonya. The film is being produced by Bryan Unkeless and his Clubhouse Pictures and Robbie will also have a producer credit.
Nancy Kerrigan, the former Olympic figure skater, was in court today to learn that her brother Mark Kerrigan had been found not guilty of manslaughter, reports People Magazine. However, Nancy Kerrigan's younger brother was convicted of assault and battery following a physical confrontation which resulted in the death of his father.

Disgraced Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding has wed her partner in a secret ceremony.
Harding, 39, and 42 year old Joseph Jens Price were issued a marriage license by Clark County officials in her hometown of Vancouver, Washington on 23 June (10), reports The Columbian newspaper.
Deputy Auditor Karen Updike has confirmed the auditor's office received the signed license on Tuesday (29Jun10), accompanied by details of the wedding.
Price is Harding's third husband. She ended her three year marriage to Jeff Gillooly in 1993, and was briefly married to Michael Smith from 1995 to 1996.

The feud between the skaters became notorious in 1994 when Harding's ex-husband allegedly hired a hitman to injure Kerrigan's knee before a U.S. championship.
Harding has always maintained she was disgusted by the attack - and now she's reaching out to her former competitor to express her sympathy after Daniel Kerrigan's tragic death.
A statement from Harding's representative reads: "Tonya feels very sad for Nancy and her family and extends her deepest sympathy and condolences to them. Tonya's beloved dad, Al Harding, passed away this April, so she understands the grief Nancy and her family are feeling at this time."

Shamed former U.S. skating champion-turned-reality TV star Tonya Harding has penned a tell-all book in a bid to show the public she doesn't deserve her `bad girl' tag.
In The Tonya Tapes, Harding reveals she was beaten by her exhusband, Jeff Gillooly, and knew nothing about his 1994 clubbing attack on skating rival Nancy Kerrigan, which she was accused of plotting.
Kerrigan was forced to pull out of trials for the 1994 Winter Olympics as a result of her injuries, but was allowed to compete in Lillehammer, Norway, where she won a silver medal.
The skater also writes about her abusive childhood in the book, claiming she was raped - and reveals she has attempted suicide. But she insists the reason she wrote the book was to clear up mistruths and misconceptions about her.
