Mad Max Fury Road leads this year’s Critics' Choice Awards nominations, picking up a massive 13 nods. It follows an already long list of nominations the action film has so far received, including from the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

In the Critics Choice Awards Mad Max has been nominated for Best Picture while Charlize Theron has picked up a nod for Best Actress and Best Actress in an Action Movie and Tom Hardy is also in the running for Best Actor in an Action Movie.

It has also received nominations for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Action Movie and Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie. Directed by George Miller he film was a huge hit with both critics and audiences earlier this year, grossing over $375 million worldwide.

The Revenant, The Martian and Carol all scored nine nominations each, with all three up for Best Picture alongside The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, Mad Max: Fury Road, Sicario and Spotlight.

Spotlight, starring Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton also faired well picking up eight nominations. Financial drama The Big Short came in next with seven followed by The Hateful Eight with six, while Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, The Danish Girl, Jurassic World and Sicario all earned five.

The winners will be announced live at the Critics' Choice Awards gala, on January 17th. The ceremony which will be broadcast from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on A&E, Lifetime and LMN starting at 8pm E.T.
