Tom Hanks is in talks to star in 'Sleeping Dogs'.
The movie is the first directorial project for Kathryn Bigelow since she won the Oscar for 'The Hurt Locker', and sees her re-teaming with the film's writer Mark Boal.
Tom is the latest in a number of actors to be lined-up for a role in the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Christian Bale previously considered, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog.
The movie tells the tale of five men working in the border zone between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, which is a centre for organised crime in the region.
The Script is still to be completed and there is currently no start date set.
Hanks has focused on production and voiceover work recently, but will be seen in 2011's 'Larry Crowne', in which he produces and stars.
